  • 'Heron Hieroglyph'

I walk around Lake Rotoroa in Hamilton a lot and often see beautiful grey herons fishing in the water.

Heron's have such lovely sleek straight lines and angles when you paint them, they're just lovely to create.

I was inspired by an egyptian hieroglyph I saw of a heron standing on a fish and decided to do my own take. I also love the book 'Borka, the goose with no feathers' by John Burningham and there is a sunset with geese flying in the background that I adore and wanted to replicate a similar scene.

1 of 2 paintings of this composition I created, painted February 2024.

There is only one framed painting available at Top Deck Cafe in Ohaupo thanks to the lovely Jenna and Carl, who let me sell my artworks there. Why not pop out for a coffee and some delicious food and check out this painting in person?

The other copy has gone to my brother. If you purchase this copy, I'll go and collect it from Top Deck Cafe to pass on to you.

It's already framed so there is no option for an unframed version of this last painting.

  • Painting in Multiples

Painting in multiples is both a chaotically creative and a methodical approach, making multiple copies at the same time of one composition.

I have been inspired by artists like Steve Keene who can paint over 100 paintings per day! Incredible.

I am by no means close to this level of production, I only paint in duplicates of 2 - 6 copies of each composition.

I work on multiple compositions at a time, each with duplicate copies being made - all at the same time (around 30). This means I can produce more work, faster and can keep my pricing affordable so they are accessible and collectable.
